New Delhi, India (Urban Transport News): The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has refused to lend money to buy a coach after the delay in approving the Phase-4 of Delhi Metro and 582 new Metro Coach Purchases was not approved by the Delhi government. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has told the need for 156 Metro coaches for phase III projects. Passengers will have to wait longer for the metro on different lines. Earlier, the DMRC has sent a proposal to buy 200 Metro coaches. The estimated cost for purchasing 156 coaches will be INR 1958 crore.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had sent the proposal for buying 582 new Metro coaches to Delhi government on March 2, 2017 for which as estimated cost was Rs 8572 crore. This is the story of the purchase of new Metro coach On 15 January 2018, the DMRC had sent a proposal to purchase additional 200 metro coaches to Delhi Government as well as Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs. Out of this 120 broad-gauge metro coaches are required to convert the line 1,2,3 and 4 to 6 coaches into 8 coaches. For line-5, 44 standard gauge-bound 4 coach metro was used to convert it into 6 coaches. Given the proposal to take a Metro coach in Lease, it were postponed.
Exhibition Convention Center made in Dwarka Sector-25 requires 36 coaches in detail. After submitting the proposal of 382 coach to the Central and the State Government, DMRC has sought the approval of 156 coaches immediately. Now the DMRC will ask for a loan from the NCR Planning Board According to documents, DMRC talked about loan from JICA for the purchasing 156 Metro coaches. Positive response is not found. DMRC will now demand a loan for the purchase of a coach from the NCR Planning Board. For this, it is necessary to get approval from the DMRC Board as well as Delhi Government cabinet.
Metro will be available in 3 minutes after buying new coach if new coaches come by 2019, people will get metro in two to three minutes on the section. People have to wait 5.18 minutes for Yamuna Bank from Noida City Center or Vaishali-known Metro. The waiting time will be reduced to 2.25 minutes from the arrival of a new coach. In less than 1.54 minutes, metro will be found between Kashmiri Gate and Green Park. The distance between the Ashok Park Main and Indralok Metro Frequency will be 5.44 min. With the addition of new coach, the ridership of the Metro is estimated 10 lakhs.
