Dr. Brijesh Dixit to lead Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC)

Mumbai, India (Urban Transport News): In a significant appointment, Brijesh Dixit, a retired officer from the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) and former Managing Director of Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha Metro), has been appointed as the first Managing Director of the newly established Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC). This corporation, founded in May of this year with an initial share capital of Rs 100 crore, will operate under the jurisdiction of the State Public Works Ministry.

Brijesh Dixit brings with him a wealth of experience and a distinguished career as a Railway Administrator and infrastructure builder. He has been associated with the Indian Railways for over three decades, including more than 15 years in Mumbai's suburban and urban rail transport, where he played various roles encompassing planning, designing, construction, maintenance of large-scale rail infrastructure, operational services, and institution administration on both Western and Central Railways.

One of his notable achievements includes the total transformation of rail infrastructure and the quality of services provided to passengers, freight customers, and the general public during his tenure as the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Central Railway's Nagpur division.

During his role as the Managing Director of the Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation, he initiated and built the organization from the ground up. He was the first employee when the corporation was incorporated on February 18, 2015. Under his leadership, the project made remarkable progress despite numerous administrative and organizational challenges. His efforts led to the swift acquisition of land, successful partnerships with international funding agencies such as KfW Germany and AFD France, and the efficient appointment of consultants and contractors. He also established the organizational structure at both the board level and within the corporation.

The Maharashtra State Infrastructure Development Corporation (MSIDC) will oversee 22 infrastructure development projects like roads, ports, airports, railways, metro, electricity etc. under the administrative control of the Public Works department of Maharashtra.
