Indore, India (Urban Transport News): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan laid the foundation stone for the construction of 11-kilometre viaduct along with 16 stations cumulatively worth Rs 1,417 crore in Indore on December 25, 2021.
"Metro will be established in a ring shape starting & ending at the Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport with 16 stations in between, as a part of a Rs 7,500 crore scheme," Chief Minister said during addressing the event. The metro rail work here had come to a standstill during the previous government, he alleged, adding that the project was moving ahead at full speed now.
He directed officials to conduct a survey to extend Indore metro to the neighbouring holy city of Ujjain as well as the Pithampur Industrial Area.
The foundation stone for the first phase of the 31.55-kilometre-long Indore metro rail project, estimated to cost Rs 7,500.80 crore, was laid by then former chief minister Kamal Nath on September 14, 2019.
The both civil contract packages (IN-02 & IN-03) have been awarded to Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a PSU of Indian Railways. The Indore metro project is being executed by Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MPMRCL).
The scope of work under contract package IN-02 of Indore Metro includes Design and Construction of Seven (7) Elevated Metro Rail Stations including Viaduct portion within the stations and Transition spans on either side of the stations, Entry-Exit Structures, Architectural Finishes, E&M Works etc. (ISBT/MR10 Flyover, Chandragupta Square, Hira Nagar, Bapat Square, Meghdoot Garden, Vijay Nagar Square & Radisson Square) of Indore Metro Rail Project.
The scope of work under contract package IN-03 of Indore Metro includes Design and Construction of Elevated Viaduct between Ch.14+488 & Ch.25+415, viaduct connecting Depot leading upto interface location, Nine (9) Elevated Metro Rail Stations including all Civil, Structural, Roof structure, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) works, Architectural finishes, Façade, Entry/Exits, FOB, Viaduct within the stations including Transition spans” for Indore Metro Rail Project.
Tender for construction of metro depot at Gandhinagar has already been floated and a total of 16 firms have submitted their bids.
