7 firms bid for construction of 26 km stretch of Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor

Gurugram, India (Urban Transport News): The Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (HRIDC) has opened technical bids for 25.92 km Civil Contract Package (C-23) of Haryana Oribital Rail Corridor Project (HORCP) on 31st January 2023.

As per the information shared by HRIDC, seven major infra firms have submitted their bids for the construction of 25.92 kilometres section of the 121.7 km kilimetres proposed Haryana Oribital Rail Corridor Project. The names of firms are:-

  • IRCON International Ltd
  • Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. (RVNL)
  • Larsen & Toubro Ltd (L&T)
  • Afcons Infrastructure Ltd
  • PNC Infratech Ltd.
  • Gawar Construction
  • GR Infraprojects Ltd

The scope of work under civil contcat package (C-23) includes design and construction of Civil Works (Earthwork, Bridges, Station Buildings, Retaining Walls and other miscellaneous Works) from km 29.68 to km 49.70 & from km 55.60 to km 61.50 and its connectivities to Indian Railways network from New Patli to Patli station & New Patli to Sultanpur station including modifications/civil works at Sultanpur Station in connection with laying of New BG Double Railway line of the project.

Tender notice for the above contract package was issued in November 2021 with a 910 day completion deadline.

Now all bids have been sent for the technical evaluation and after this, HRIDC will open the financial bids to select lowest bidder for the construction work.

First civil contract worth Rs 158.16 crore) for the constrcution of 5.9 km Package C1 (Priority Section from Manesar to Patli Station) of Haryana Oribital Rail Corridor Project has been awarded to a Gugugram-based firm KCC Buildcon Pvt. Ltd. in May 2022.

In October 2022, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had laid foundation stone of Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor project. A joint venture of RITES Ltd and SMEC will provide General Engineering Consultancy for this project.

The Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor project will connect Palwal with Sonipat. According to the detailed project report, the corridor will have a 121.7-kilometre-long rail with double line track, which is expected to be commissioned by 2025.

The orbital rail project will allow the movement of double-stack containers and will have 17 stations in between Palwal and Sonipat. The orbital rail project will also have a 5-kilometre tunnel through the Aravallis.

The Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor Project will be implemented by the Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd, a joint venture of Ministry of Railways and Government of Haryana.
