UP Govt gives four months extension to Kumar Keshav, PM appreciates his services

Lucknow, India (Urban Transport News): The Government of Uttar Pradesh has given a four-months further extension to Kumar Keshav, Managing Director of Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRC) on Januray 6, 2022. The exceptional services rendered by Keshav was acknowledged and appriciated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the opening of Kanpur Metro services to the public.

Expressing confidence, the Government of Uttar Pradesh gave a four months extension to Kumar Keshav as his prevous extended tenure was going to end on February 16, 2022. Now he will lead the UPMRC till June 30, 2022. For doing commendable work in giving world-class metros to various cities of Uttar Pradesh, he got extension of service from the government.

It is noted that Keshav had joined Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (then Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation) on August 4, 2014 as the first Managing Director for a period of five years. His tenure was extended two times i.e. in August 2019 and then August 2021.

Keshav is known as the "MetroMan" of Uttar Pradesh as under his leadership UPMRC team is executing and implemennting large scale metro projects in the most populous cities of Uttar Pradesh. In December, 2021, UPMRC has set a new record across the India by gifting Kanpurites their very own metro in just 2 years and 2 months.

Keshav is leading UPMRC for more than seven years and within this period he along with his team gifted India's fastest metro project to Lucknow and then broke his own record by commencing the Kanpur Metro Train services in just 2 years and 2 months. Both projects not only gave international fame to the cities of Uttar Pradesh but also changed the lifestyle of the people of Lucknow and Kanpur. Under his strong leadership, the name of the fastest constructed underground metro station 'Chowdhary Charan Singh Airport Metro Station' in Lucknow is also recorded in the Limca Book of Records.

The construction work of Kanpur Metro (remaining stretches) and Agra Metro projects is currently being carried out by UPMRC at a fast pace without any interruption, while Gorakhpur Metrolite is waiting for approval from the Central Government.
