New Delhi, India (Urban Transport News): The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC) launched global tenders for the construction of a 7.46 km underground section under Package DC-05 for the construction of tunnel between Derawal Nagar and R.K. Ashram including six metro stations for Extension of Line 8 (Janakpuri West - RK Ashram) under Phase 4 of Delhi Metro Rail Project.
Contract DC-05: Design & Construction of Twin Tunnel by shield TBM, Tunnel by Cut & Cover, Underground ramp at Derawal Nagar and Six underground stations viz. Derawal Nagar, Ghanta Ghar, Pulbangash, Sadar Bazar, Nabi Karim & Ramakrishna Ashram Marg Including Architectural Finishing, Water supply, Sanitary installation, Drainage works of stations on Janakpuri West to R.K. Ashram Corridor (Line-8 Extn.) of Phase-IV of Delhi MRTS.
With this tender notice, DMRC has floated all major civil tenders for the construction of the entire 28.9 km Line-8 extension corridor (Janakpuri West - RK Ashram) under Phase 4 of the Delhi Metro Rail Project.
The funding for this work will be provided by the Japanese institution Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) hence Bidding will be conducted in accordance with JICA’s “Single-Stage Two Envelope” Bidding Procedure.
On March 26, 2021, JICA has signed an agreement with the Government of India to provide an ODA loan of Rs 8,390 crores for the construction of three priority corridors comprising of extension of 12.5 km line (Mukundpur - Maujpur), 28.9 km Line 8 (Janakpuri West - RK Ashram) and a new corridor named Silverline spanning 23.6 km between Aerocity and Tughlakabad within Delhi.
