Telangana Govt officials visit Nagpur to study Multi-Layer Transport System

Nagpur (Urban Transport News): A high-power delegation of Government of Telangana today visited Nagpur to study the Multi-Layer Transport System, being built by Maha Metro Nagpur. The 12-member delegation included Arvind Kumar, Principal Secretary, Government of Telangana and Dr. Ram Mohan, Mayor of Hyderabad and other government officials. The delegation met Maha Metro Managing Director Dr. Brijesh Dixit and other senior officials.

The officials held a discussion on various topics related to Nagpur Metro Rail project and were given a detail presentation on the way Maha Metro has not just executed the project speedily but also ensured cost-cutting at all possible levels, during the meeting held at Metro House. The delegation was apprised of the two Multi-Layer Transport System arrangements – the 3-layer structure to come up along Wardha Road and the proposed four-tier transportation facility to come up along Kamptee Road at Gaddigodam.

The unique concept of sharing of `Right of Way’ ensured Time, Space and Cost Efficiency for Maha Metro,’’ said Dr. Dixit. This unique concept of sharing Right of Way also led to the acquisition of lesser land for the project, he said. "Maha Metro has extensively used Fly-Ash while constructing the project, thus reiterating our commitment to the conservation of the environment,’’ Dr. Dixit added. He also dwelt on the various aspects which led to a reduction in the project cost. The delegation was also given a presentation on Metro Neo, the mega-project proposed to be executed by Maha Metro in the city of Nasik.

The unique features of the project, and how it is a cost-effective vis-à-vis metro project was also emphasized on delegation. The delegation was highly impressed with the project and wished to replicate the same in Telangana. The various innovations like 6D BIM, which have resulted in savings at various levels were also showcased in the presentation. The Maha Metro Feeder trains or Broad Gauge Metro project was also explained in detail to the visiting delegation. The government officials from Telangana were highly impressed with project progress.

The officials sought to replicate some of the ongoing Metro projects in their state and sought Maha Metro’s help for it. During its day-long stay, the delegation visited the double-decker site at Wardha Road, Kamptee Road, and Casting Yard. Metro officials including Mahesh Kumar, Director (Project), Anil Kokate, ED (Admin), Devendra Ramtekkar, ED (Reach-I), M P Ramnavas, GM (Design) and others were present during the presentation. Apart from Shri Arvind Kumar and Dr Ram Mohan, the delegation from Government of Telangana included Shri Sridhar & Shri Mohammad Ziauddin, both Chief Engineer, Shri K Suresh Kumar, OSD (Housing), Shri Dathupanthu, & Shri S Venkata Ramana, both Superintending Engineer and others.
