Kanpur, India (Urban Transport News): The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRCL) has shortlisted six bidders who have participated in the contract package KNPCC-05 for the construction of 8.621 kilometres underground stretch from Motijheel Station to Nayaganj Station of Kanpur Metro Rail Project.
A total of seven bidders had submitted their bids and the following six bidders have been shortlisted after the technical evaluation process by the tender committee.
However, the Chinese major construction firm Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co. Ltd. (STEC) has been disqualified. The financial bids of shortlisted bidders are likely to open on 14th January 2021 (Thursday) by UPMRCL.
UPMRCL had invited online bids (Tender No. UPMRC/CE-Contract/KNPRCC-05/2020) for this package on 6th July 2020 with an estimate of Rs 1,400 crore.
The scope of work includes the design and construction of a Tunnel from the start of the elevated ramp (after Motijheel Station) to the end of Nayaganj station including four underground metro stations (viz. Chunniganj, Naveen Market, Bada Chauraha and Nayaganj) and ramp including Architectural finishes, E&M, TVS, ECS etc. on Corridor-1 of Kanpur MRTS Project (Phase 1).
At the beginning of this year, SAM (India) Builtwell has started installing pieces of a pre-engineered steel roof structure at IIT Kanpur Station on the 8.728 km priority corridor of Kanpur Metro.
The 32.385 km long Kanpur Metro (Phase 1) will connect from IIT Kanpur to Naubasta through 22 stations.
