Seven firms bid for underground civil contract of Agra Metro Rail Project

Agra, India (Urban Transport News): The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRCL) on November 11, 2021, has opened the technical bids for the civil contract package AGCC-02 which was called for the construction of a 7.93 km underground section between RBS College Ramp and Taj Mahal Ramp of Corridor 1 of Agra Metro Rail project.

A total of seven firms/consortia have submitted their bids in response to the tender notice called by UPMRC in August 2021.

  • Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T)
  • Gulermak Agir Sanayi Insaat ve Taahh. A.S.
  • J Kumar Infraprojects – NCC Ltd JV
  • Afcons Infrastructure – SAM India Builtwell JV
  • JMC Projects Ltd – CAI JV
  • Dineshchandra R Agrawal – Evrascon JV

The scope of work includes Design and Construction of Tunnel from the start of the underground ramp (near Fatehabad Road Metro station) to the end of the ramp after RBS college Metro station including seven underground metro stations (viz. Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Jama Masjid, S.N. Medical College, Agra College, Raja ki Mandi and RBS college) including Architectural finishes, E&M, TVS, ECS etc. of Corridor-1 of Agra MRTS Project at Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India.

The estimated cost of this tender is Rs 2,200 crore with a work completion deadline of 4 years. The contractor has to deploy a total of four Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) to complete this work.

This contract will be financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB). The EIB is agreed to provide financial assistance of Euro 480 million for the Agra Metro Rail Project.

The 14.25 km corridor 1 of Agra Metro will connect Taj East Gate to Sikandara with 14 stations.
