Sadbhav Engg-led JV wins Rs 780 crore civil contract package of Surat Metro Rail Project

Ahmedabad, India (Urban Transport News): Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited (GMRC) on 21st December 2020 opened financial bids of the first civil contract package (CS-01) of the Surat Metro Rail project. According to the bid results, Sadhbhav Engineering Limited-led joint venture emerged as the lowest bidder among the other five major infra contractors.

The scope of work under the contract package CS-01 includes design and construction of an 11.6 km elevated viaduct from Kadarsha Ni Nal to Dream City Dead End including Ramp for Depot entry near Dream City and 10 Stations (Excl. E&M, Architectural Finishing and Roofing) for Surat Metro Rail Project Phase – 1.

The 10 metro stations which will be constructed under this package are Kadarsha Ni Nal, Majura Gate, Rupali Canal, Althan Tenament, Althan Gam, VIP Road, Woman ITI, Bhimrad, Convention Center and Dream City.

A total of six bidders have submitted their bids against this contract package. The financial position of each bidders against the estimated cost of work Rs 805,15,06,488.00 (₹805.15 crores) are as under:-

  • Sadbhav Engg Ltd - SP Singla Constructions Pvt Ltd JV: Rs 7,79,73,12,769.50 (₹779.73 crore - L1)
  • Dilip Buildcon Ltd - EVARASCON JV: Rs 7,87,09,95,114.17 (₹787.09 crore - L2)
  • Larsen & Toubro Ltd: Rs 8,01,05,49,437.70 (₹801.05 crore - L3)
  • HCC Ltd - KEC International Ltd JV: Rs 8,47,27,02,611.67 (₹847.27 crore - L4)
  • NCC Limited: Rs 9,41,77,80,410.13 (₹941.77 crore - L5)
  • J. Kumar Infra - Ranjit Buildcon JV: Rs 9,57,31,65,778.99 (₹957.31 crore - L6)

Tenders for the above contract was issued in June 2020 and technical bids were opened on 28th September 2020. Now the bids sent for evaluation by the tender committee. After completion of the evaluation of bids, the letter of acceptance will be issued in favour of the lowest bidder. The contractor would have to complete the work within 30 months after receiving the LoA.

Tender notices for the contract package CS-02 and CS-03 already floated by the GMRC. The Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation Limited (GMRC) had issued a letter of acceptance (LoA) to Railway consultancy firm RITES Limited for carrying out a study for multi-modal integration planning for the proposed Surat Metro Rail project.
