PM Narendra Modi to flag off ‘Train 18’ on December 29 from Varanasi

New Delhi (Urban Transport News): It is good news for the people who are eagerly waiting for taking journey experience in India's first engine-less semi-high speed train that the first Train 18 will be inaugurated on December 29. According to sources, the Train 18 will be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from his constituency Varanasi. The first Train 18 will run on 780 km Indian Railways' track between New Delhi and Varanasi.

 

Train 18 is developed by Integral Coach factory (ICF) Chennai at a cost of Rs.100 crores, which has recently become India's fastest train. During the trial test run on a section of Delhi-Rajdhani Route, its speed was more than 180 km per hour. There will be two special (executive) coaches in this train, 52 seats and remaining coaches will have 78 seats. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, who was impressed with the success of 'Train 18' during the trial, has asked the ICF to make four more such trains in the current financial year.

 

The speed ​​of Train 18 will be 180 kilometers per hour
The Train 18 can run at a speed of 180 kilometers per hour. Although it will be run at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour during the operational run. A railway official said that the train 18 will run from New Delhi Railway Station at 6.00 AM in the morning and will reach Varanasi at 2.00 PM. In return, this train will run from Varanasi at 2:30 PM and reach New Delhi at 10:30 pm. This 16-coach train will have two executive coaches with 52 seats. But the remaining 14 coaches will be sitting with 78 seats.

 

WiFi, Climate Control System
Train 18 will have some exclusive facilities like WiFi, touch-free bio-vacuum toilets, LED lighting, mobile charging and climate control system.
