New Delhi, India (Urban Transport News): Vinay Kumar Singh, a prominent figure in infrastructure planning and implementation, has recently announced his resignation from his role as Managing Director of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC). Singh, an esteemed IRSE officer from the 1988 batch, cited personal reasons for his abrupt departure.
Sources have confirmed that Singh submitted his resignation to the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) on March 15. However, the Ministry has yet to confirm whether his resignation has been accepted.
In a statement released by NCRTC, it was conveyed that Singh made a heartfelt announcement to the team on March 16, 2024, expressing his decision to step down from his position. During his tenure, Singh played a pivotal role in transforming NCRTC, overseeing significant growth and innovation within the organization.
Addressing the NCRTC team, Singh remarked on the achievements made under his leadership, highlighting the corporation's expansion and technological advancements. He emphasized the implementation of cutting-edge technologies, which facilitated efficiency and transparency within NCRTC's operations.
Singh outlined several key initiatives undertaken during his tenure, including the adoption of advanced technologies for the Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) project. These initiatives encompassed various aspects such as pre-casting, overhead equipment, rolling stock, telecommunication infrastructure, and signaling systems, setting a benchmark for transportation projects in India.
Furthermore, Singh underscored NCRTC's efforts in promoting transit-oriented development (TOD) and fostering collaboration with state governments for infrastructure development. He also praised the successful commissioning of the Delhi-Meerut corridor, ahead of schedule, which received acclaim from both national and international quarters.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who inaugurated stages I and II of the RRTS project, commended NCRTC's contributions to infrastructure development and its focus on innovation. Singh expressed gratitude for the support received from all stakeholders and expressed confidence in NCRTC's future endeavors.
Vinay Kumar Singh's tenure at NCRTC commenced in February 2016, following his role as CEO at the High-Speed Rail Corporation, a subsidiary of Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd.
As Singh bids farewell to NCRTC, he leaves behind a legacy of progress and excellence, laying a strong foundation for the organization's continued growth and development.
