L&T Construction bags various contracts for its Transportation Infrastructure Business

Mumbai, India (Urban Transport News): Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) on April 5, 2022, has announced that it has secured various orders from Transportation Infrastructure Business.

L&T Construction has secured an order from the Tamil Nadu Road Infrastructure Development Corporation to construct the Chennai Peripheral Ring Road EPC-02 Package of Section-II in the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode. The scope of work broadly includes constructing a six-lane greenfield highway of 12.80km with flexible pavement, two-lane service roads and paved shoulders on both sides of the carriageway, at-grade Intersections, major/minor bridges, vehicular/light vehicular/ small vehicular underpasses, and culverts followed by maintenance for 7 years.

The Railways business unit along with the Substation business unit of the Power Transmission & Distribution Business has won an order worth Rs 453 crores from the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRCL) for the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of Receiving-cum-Auxilliary Main Sub-stations, including High Voltage cabling from Substations, 750VDC Third Rail Traction System, 33kV Cable Network, ASS, TSS and SCADA systems for corridor 1 & 2 of Agra Metro Rail Project. The 36-month project will be funded by the European Investment Bank (EIB).

L&T is India’s leading player in the railway electrification domain possessing expertise across all types of traction systems i.e., 25kV AC flexible & rigid catenary systems, 2x25kV AC Overhead Catenary Systems, DC overhead normal and feeder-messenger type catenary systems, monorail traction systems and now DC third rail traction systems. L&T is already executing the track works for the Agra Metro.

UPMRCL is one of the implementing agencies responsible for carrying out the Metro system works for the major cities of Uttar Pradesh such as Kanpur, Agra, etc.
