Indian Railways likely to launch first Sleeper Vande Bharat Train on Secunderabad-Pune Route

New Delhi, India (Urban Transport News): Indian Railways is set to revolutionize long-distance travel with the introduction of Vande Bharat sleeper trains, aiming to enhance passenger comfort and reduce travel time. This ambitious project includes the launch of a new service between Secunderabad and Pune, which promises to bring a new level of sophistication and efficiency to India's rail network.

The Vande Bharat sleeper trains are designed with modern amenities to significantly improve the travel experience. These trains will feature sensor-based lighting, advanced soundproofing, automatic interconnecting doors, and compact pantries in each coach. Accessibility is also a priority, with provisions for wheelchair-accessible sleepers and ergonomic bunk beds. Additionally, the trains will be equipped with bathrooms featuring anti-spill washbasins and odor control systems, ensuring a hygienic environment for passengers.

The new sleeper trains are being manufactured by Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) and the Integral Coach Factory (ICF). Scheduled for launch later this year, these trains represent a significant upgrade from the existing fleet, aligning with Indian Railways' broader initiative to introduce more semi-high-speed train services across the country. This initiative aims to improve passenger comfort and reduce travel times, catering to the growing demand for efficient and comfortable long-distance travel.

The Secunderabad-Pune Vande Bharat sleeper train is expected to offer a more efficient travel option compared to the current Shatabdi Express, which takes approximately 8 hours and 25 minutes. The new service aims to cut down travel time by at least an hour, providing a faster alternative for passengers.

While the exact schedule and stops for the Secunderabad-Pune Vande Bharat sleeper train are still being finalized, Indian Railways officials have assured that these details will be made public soon. The anticipation surrounding this launch is high, as it is part of a larger strategy to modernize the Vande Bharat fleet and offer long-distance travelers a superior mode of transportation.

Currently, five Vande Bharat trains operate successfully within the South Central Railway (SCR) jurisdiction, including routes such as Vijayawada – MGR Chennai Central, Secunderabad – Visakhapatnam, Secunderabad – Tirupati, and Kacheguda – Yesvantpur (Hyderabad – Bengaluru). These trains boast over 100% passenger occupancy, reflecting their popularity and efficiency.

Indian Railways' introduction of Vande Bharat sleeper trains marks a significant step towards phasing out the Rajdhani Express, India's flagship sleeper train, in a gradual manner. This strategic move is expected to enhance the overall passenger experience, aligning with global standards of rail travel.

The Vande Bharat sleeper trains symbolize a new era of railway travel in India, combining speed, comfort, and modern amenities. As Indian Railways continues to innovate and expand its services, passengers can look forward to a more pleasant and efficient journey across the country.

Stay tuned for more updates on the schedule and stops for the highly anticipated Secunderabad-Pune Vande Bharat sleeper train service, as Indian Railways finalizes preparations for its launch later this year.
