EGIS likely to provide Design Consultancy for 29-km Gurugram Metro Rail Corridor

Gurugram, India (Urban Transport News): The Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation Ltd (HMRTC) on 22nd August 2022 revealed that EGIS Rail India has submitted bids for providing detailed design consultancy for the proposed 28.5 km metro rail corridor connecting HUDA City Centre to Cyber City in Gurugram.

The scope of work includes provision of Detail Design Consultancy (DDC) for Civil Architectural and E&M works of Elevated Section 28.5 km having 27 Stations Main Corridor from HUDA City Centre to Cyber City Gurgaon of Gurgaon Metro Project and also inclusive of Depot connection.

Tender notice for the contract package GGNCCDD-01 for the afforesaid work was invited by HMRTC in June 2022 with an estimated cost of work Rs 17.68 crore and 1440 days (3.94 years) work completion deadline.

In November 2021, the Haryana Cabinet had approved the final Detailed Project Report (DPR) for metro rail connection from HUDA City Centre to various important locations in Gurugram at a cost of Rs 6821.13 crore. The corridor will provide metro connectivity to the residents of old Gurugram. This corridor has also received approval from the Public Investment Board (PIB) in June 2022. Now, the project is awaiting nod from Central Government cabinet.

As per the DPR, the 28.5 km metro rail corridor will form ring line and will have 27 elevated stations with six interchange stations.

This metro link would start at HUDA City Centre and move towards Sector 45, Cyber Park, District Shopping Centre, Sector 47, Subhash Chowk, Sector 48, Sector 72 A, Hero Honda Chowk, Udyog Vihar Phase 6, Sector 10, Sector 37, Basai village, Sector 9, Sector 7, Sector 4, Sector 5, Ashok Vihar, Sector 3, Bajghera Road, Palam Vihar Extension, Palam Vihar, Sector 23 A, Sector 22, Udyog Vihar Phase 4, Udyog Vihar Phase 5 and finally merge in the existing network of Rapid Metro Gurugram at Moulsari Avenue station near Cyber City.

Apart from this, a new 8.4-km metro rail link proposed to connect Rezang La Chowk (in Gurugram) to Dwarka Sector 21. Out of which the 4.9-km stretch from Rezang La Chowk to Sector 111 will be in Gurugram and the remaining 3.5-km long stretch covering Sector 111to Dwarka Sector 21 will be in Delhi. The corridor will have 7 stations comprising 2 interchange stations: 4 in Gurugram and 3 in New Delhi. The stations under the corridor will be built in Rezang La Chowk, Chauma, Sector 110A, Sector 111, Dwarka Sector 25 and Dwarka Sector 21.
