New Delhi/Urban Transport News: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Monday shared the information that the date of the safety inspection of the Trilokpuri-Shiv Vihar section of Delhi Metro's Pink Line (Majlis Park-Shiva Vihar) corridor has been fixed after a long wait. Shri Shailesh Kumar Pathak, Commissioner for Metro Railways Safety (CMRS) will examine this section on 20 October 2018.
If everything is OK then metro railway services in this section will be opened to the public. The Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake-Shiv Vihar section of the Delhi Metro's Pink Line is 17.86 km long. This section has 15 elevated metro stations, including Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake, East Vinod Nagar-Mayur Vihar-II, Mandawali-West Vinod Nagar, IP Extension, Anand Vihar ISBT, Karkardooma, Karkardooma Court, Krishna Nagar, East Azad Nagar, Welcome, Jafarabad, Maujpur-Babarpur, Gokalpuri, Jeweler Enclaves, and Shiv Vihar are included.
The passengers will get three interchange facility in this section. There will be an interchange on the Red Line at the Welcome Metro Station of Pink Line, while on the Blue Line there will be two interchanges on Kadkadumma and Anand Vihar ISBT. Metro commuters going towards Kashmere Gate or Dilshad Garden from Shiv Vihar will have to interchange at Welcome Station. At the same time, passengers to go to Preet Vihar, Lakshmi Nagar, Yamuna Bank, and Akshardham will be required to interchange at Blue Line's Kadkadumma Metro station.
On the other hand, passengers traveling to Vaishali from Shiv Vihar will have to interchange at the Anand Vihar ISBT Metro Station of Blue Line. After the opening of this section, the railway network of Delhi Metro will increase to 314 km. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is expecting to start metro train operation in this section before Diwali. The remaining section between Trilokpuri Sanjay Lake and Mayur Vihar-I is under dispute due to land acquisition issues. Hence, the commuters living Mayur Vihar Phase-I area will have to wait for more to complete their journey in the entire Pink line.
