New Delhi (Urban Transport News): The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will provide a total of Rs 1,000 crores for the development of phase 4 of Delhi Metro. Of which, Rs 400 crores will be given in the financial year 2021-22. The Rithala-Bawana-Narela corridor will be developed in a phased manner under Delhi Metro's Phase-4 in Delhi. With the formation of this section, many areas of outer Delhi will be directly connected by the Delhi Metro Rail Network.
This line will start from the existing Red Line's Rithala station. An interchange station will be built here. A total of 19 metro stations will be built on this route. It will have 14 elevated and five underground metro stations. The cost of this entire line would be around Rs 2,714 crore. In it, the light metro can be run on the largest 21.73 km Rithala-Bawana-Narela corridor.
In the budget proposal, a provision of Rs 100 crore has been made for Urban Extension Road-2 (Third Ring Road) to be built to connect outer Delhi with the airport. This road will play an important role in connecting Dwarka, Rohini, Narela with Delhi and neighboring states. The project is scheduled to begin in the areas of land pooling in the coming days. The DDA believes that the project will contribute significantly in connecting major national highways, reducing heavy traffic congestion on Delhi roads and improving air quality.
For Narela sub-city development, DDA has decided to construct 4 foot over bridges (FOBs) and 2 railway over bridges (ROBs) in this area. For which budget provision has been made for 8 crores and 6 crores respectively. Large major railway lines pass through the Narela region, such infrastructure will be constructed for crossing on those lines.
A fund of Rs 500 crore has been released for DDA's much talked-about TOD project for East Delhi. Under which a residential and commercial hub is to be built on 30 hectares of land. The first implementation of the East Delhi Hub project is being done by NBCC for DDA.
The DDA has planned a dedicated corridor track for cyclists and pedestrians. In the first phase, a dedicated track for cyclists and pedestrians has been started from Badarpur to Malviya Nagar named Nilgai Line. For which a provision of 28 crores has been made in this budget.
