Construction activities for Agra Metro Rail project commenced

Agra, India (Urban Transport News): The civil contractors of the Agra Metro have now started placing barricades along the proposed 4-km priority stretch of Corridor 1 of 29.40 km Agra Metro Rail project on Fatehabad Road and at PAC Depot’s site for commencing constructing work in Agra.

Last month, Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited (UPMRC) has awarded two civil contracts for the construction of a stretch of Corridor 1 and PAC Depot of the Agra Metro Rail project.

On 14th October 2020, UPMRC has issued a contract worth Rs 112.64 crore (Package: AGCC-03) to Lisha Engineers Private Limited for Civil, PEB and E&M works for construction of Depot-cum-Workshop, including O&M staff quarters & structural, architectural, plumbing, drainage, external development, road works, electrical, mechanical, VAC, fire fighting, fire detection etc. at PAC Depot for Taj East Gate to Sikandra Corridor-1 of Agra Metro.

On 23rd October 2020, the other contract worth Rs 272.96 crore was awarded to Sam (India) Builtwell Private Limited for the construction of an elevated viaduct and 3 Nos. elevated stations (viz. Taj East Gate, Basal & Fatehabad Road Metro Station) Including Civil, Architectural Finishes, Water Supply, Sanitary Installation, Drainage, External Development, Fire Fighting, Fire Detection, E&M works and PEB structures on Priority Section of Corrldor1, Phase-I of Agra Metro. The contractor has to complete the work within 26 months.

The UPMRC is now fully focusing on the work of the Kanpur and Agra Metro Rail project and the team continues working on awarding major contracts related to these projects. Apart from Civil contracts, System contracts are also being awarded. Bombardier Transportation has received a contract worth Rs 2,051 crore for the supply of 201 metro cars for the Kanpur and Agra Metro Rail projects.
