Chennai, India (Urban Transport News): Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) invites bids for the appointment of Independent Safety Assessors (ISAs) borne on the latest ISA panel for “Metro Signalling Projects/Systems“ of Research Designs & Standards Organization (RDSO) for ISA services of the Signalling-Train Control System and its Safety-related interface to Rolling Stock and Platform Screen Doors Systems of Phase 1 Extension of the Chennai Metro rail Project.
To investigate systems that are critical for everyday processes such as train control system, signalling, & its related interface to the trains and platform screen door systems for the Chennai Metro Rail project Phase I extension.

The 9-km long Washermenpet-Wimco Nagar stretch is an extension of Blue Line of the Chennai Metro Rail Project (Phase I). A total of 8 stations are being constructed on the stretch. Out of 2 stations are underground and rest 6 are elevated. The names of the stations are - Sir Theagaraya College, Korukkupet, Tondiarpet, Toll Gate, Thangal, Gowri Ashram, Tiruvottiyur, Wimco Nagar.
The total estimated cost of this stretch is Rs 3,770 crores. This section was scheduled to open in June 2020 but due to countrywide lockdown in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, it may get delayed. Inspection from Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety will be invited based on the recommendations from the Independent Safety Assessors. For more details, please explore our Chennai Metro section.
