Kochi, India (Urban Transport News): The Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) invites online bids from the eligible civil contractors for the construction of a 1.163-km elevated viaduct from S.N. Junction to Thrippunithura including one new station at Thrippunithura.
Construction of Viaduct from S.N. Junction to Thrippunithura (from Ch. 26+962 to 28+125) including one Elevated Station i.e Thrippunithura Terminal (at Ch. 27+781.90) for Phase 1 Extension of Kochi Metro Rail Project Excluding Architectural and Building.
On 15th April 2020, KMRL has also invited bids for selection of Proof Consultancy Services for the detailed structural design of the viaduct and one elevated station from S.N. Junction to Thripunithura of Phase 1B of Kochi Metro Rail project. The last date of submission of bids is 29th May 2020 and the technical bids will be opened on 1st June 2020 at 15.00 hrs. The work is expected to be completed in 8 months from the date of issuance of Letter of Acceptance (LoA) to the selected contractor.
This section is part of the under-construction section (Petta–Vadakkekotta–S.N. Junction–Thrippunithura) of the Kochi Metro Phase 1 extension. The total length of this section is 3.2 km and this section is being executed by KMRL itself. On 15th February this year, KMRL has successfully completed the metro trial run on Kochi Metro's new stretch between Thykoodam and Petta.
The CMRS inspection on this section was scheduled on March 25, but KMRL has postponed the inspection schedule due to countrywide lockdown. In June 2019, the detailed project report of Rs 356 crore Kochi Metro Phase 1 Extension project is approved by the Kerala Government.
