Madurai, India (Urban Transport News): Chennai Metro Rail Limited on March 9, 2022 opened the financial bids of consultancy contract of proposed Madurai Metro Rail Project. As per the financial bid results, Secuderabad-based firm Balaji Railroad Systems Limited (BARSYL) emerged as the lowest bidder among the other four bidders.
Tender (Request for Proposals) for the selection of Consultant for preparation of Feasibility Study Report for introducing a Rail-based Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) in Madurai city was notified by CMRL in November 2021. A total of five firms have submitted their bids according to technical bids opened in December, 2021.
The financial positions of each bidders are as under:-
The study will involve identifying routes along which the urban rail transit network would be built and analyse the feasibility of establishing a metro rail system or any other alternative option based on passenger traffic movement and travel demand. The consultant will have to examine available reports of previous studies, plans, CMP report and other related transportation scenarios of Madurai metropolitan region, collect primary transport network inventory.
CMRL has set 4 months (120 days) deadline to complete the above tasks. Now all bids have been sent for final evaluation. If everthing is Okay then CMRL will issue a letter of acceptance to BARSYL to commence the feasibility study for the proposed MRTS in Madurai city.
