Dhaka, Bangladesh (Urban Transport News): The Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) today received the first six-coach metro trainset from Kawasaki-Mitsubishi Consortium Company Limited of Japan. The coaches have been placed on the railway track in the unloading area of the jetty adjacent to the Uttara Diabari depot.
The coach was unloaded from the jetty of DMTCL near Diabari on the Turag River at around 12:03 pm and was then placed on the track.
On April 24, 2021, the barge carrying the six coaches of the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) train reached the jetty of the DMTCL at Diabari, Uttara, via the Turag River. The coaches were dispatched from Japan’s Kobe port on March 4, 2021.
After assembling these coaches into a train set, the integrated tests will be started on Dhaka Metro's Line 6. And after the integrated test, Trial runs will be carried out before formal operation.
The Line 6 of Dhaka Metro will span 21.26 km and connect Uttara North to Motijheel with 16 metro stations. The stations will be located at Uttara North, Uttara Center, Uttara South, Pallabi, Mirpur 11, Mirpur 10, Kazipara, Shewrapara, Agargaon, Bijoy Sarani, Farmgate, Karwan Bazar, Shahbag, Dhaka University, Bangladesh Secretariat, and Motijheel.
The original length of the Line-6 was 20.1 km to Motijheel, but it has now been extended by 1.16km to Kamalapur Railway Station.
