Bangalore Metro to open Yalchanahalli - Anjanapura section on Karnataka Day

Bengaluru, India (Urban Transport News): The engineers of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL), BEML Limited and Alstom Transport have started testing on the newly constructed 6.29 km long section (REACH-4B) from Yalchanahalli to Anjanapura on the Metro's Green Line in Phase II expansion.

In last one month, many tests of initial level have been carried out on this section regarding speed and braking, signal and traction etc. Five new stations have been built on the expanded line and this will make Metro access to Kanakpura Road.

It consists of 5 newly elevated stations at Konankunthe Cross (formerly Anjanapura Cross Road), Doddakalasandra (formerly Krishna Leela Park/ISKCON), Vajrahalli, Talagattapura and Anjanapura (formerly Anjanapura Township).

The line was inspected by the Deputy Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (Dy CMRS) of Southern Circle of the Indian Railways in last week. After this, BEML tested the train speed at a maximum speed of 80 kmph.

In view of the trial, the normal operation on this line between 3.9 km Reach-4A (RV Road-Yalchanahalli) has been suspended.

Alstom aims to complete the test by 15th October  2020 so that BMRCL can obtain green signal from CMRS for opening of this section for commercial services on 1st November 2020 on the occasion of Karnataka Rajyotsava.

However, according to the condition of civil work of the last station of this line, it seems very difficult to say that the work will be completed in a month.

In addition to obtaining safety certificate from CMRS, BMRCL will also have to obtain a certificate from an independent assessor. It will be very interesting to see how this work which is lagging behind schedule is completed in a month.
