YFC Projects wins ₹553 crore Civil Contract Package of Patna Metro Rail Project

Patna, India (Urban Transport News): The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC) on July 19, 2021, opened the financial bids of civil contract packages PC-04 for construction of a 4-km elevated section of Corridor 1 (East-West) of the Patna Metro Rail Project.

As per the financial bid results, YFC Projects Limited emerged as the lowest bidders by beating two other major infrastructure firms. The financial positions of each bidder are as under:-

  • YFC Projects Limited: ₹553.49 Crores (L1)
  • Sam India Builtwell Pvt. Ltd: ₹587.63 Crores (L2)
  • NCC Limited: ₹614.94 Crores (L3)

As per DMRC, the estimated cost of work was ₹527.62 crores and YFC Projects has quoted a higher value than the estimates.

The scope of work under the PC-04 package includes the Part Design and Construction of Elevated Viaduct, elevated ramp at Mithapur & Patliputra and seven stations viz Danapur, Saguna More, RPS More, Patliputra, Mithapur, Ramkrishna Nagar & Jaganpura Station (Excluding Architectural Finishing & PEB works) in Corridor-1 of Phase-I of Patna Metro Rail Project.

Tender for the above package was invited in September 2020 and technical bids were opened in November. Now the bids have been sent for evaluation and if everything is okay then DMRC will issue the letter of acceptance to commence the work.

The Patna Metro Rail Project is suffering from a lack of funding as there is no external funding agency has been finalized yet except funding from state and central government. The construction activities have not yet commenced properly despite two major civil contracts (package PC-01 & 02) already awarded.

As per the latest updates, L&T Construction emerged as the lowest bidder for PC-03 (the underground contract package). The financial bids were opened on the same day.

The 16.86 km long Corridor-1 (East-West) of Patna Metro will connect Danapur Cantt. to Khemni Chak through 14 metro stations proposed at Danapur Cantonment, Saguna More, RPS More, Patliputra, Rukanpura, Raja Bazar, Patna Zoo, Vikas Bhawan, Vidyut Bhawan, Patna Railway Junction, Mithapur, Ramkrishna Nagar & Jaganpur and Khemni Chak.
