Here are some salient Features of Metro Trains to be run for Kanpur Metro:

1. These eco-friendly trains are equipped with modern energy-efficient propulsion systems, making them a sustainable alternative to other modes of transport, thus reducing air pollution as well as congestion.

2. Trains are also having a ‘Regenerative Breaking’ system, under which the energy generated during the braking will be conserved and used back in the operations of trains. These trains have an energy efficiency of 45%, which means at the consumption of every 1000 units, 450 units of energy will be regenerated.

3. The trains will have fire extinguishers, fire & smoke detectors, a high-definition CCTV surveillance system and external cameras.

4. The trains will draw power from Third Rail running parallel to track, making the infrastructure without cables and poles aesthetically appealing for passengers and the public.

5. The trains are designed in accordance with the latest fire & crash safety standards.

6. Total Passenger Capacity: 974 pax per 3 car train

7. 24 CCTV Cameras/Train: Monitoring by Driver & Central Security Room.

11. Long stop request Button: Differently able passengers can press this button and demand extra time for deboarding the train safely by informing driver for the same.

12. 100% LED lights inside the train to reduce energy consumption.

13. Carbon-dioxide (CO2) sensor based air-conditioning system to reduce the energy consumption. The air-conditioning system will perform as per requirement depending on the number of passengers inside the train.
