Chennai, India (Urban Transport News): Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has issued tender notice for the completion of balance civil work of Chennai Metro's Phase 1 Extension Cooridor from Washermanpet to Wimco Nagar Depot.
Completion of Balance works including Structural, Architectural, MEP and all other associated works for 6 (six) Elevated stations, 2 (two) Under Ground stations and one Maintenance Depot of Chennai Metro's Phase-I Extension from Washermanpet to Wimco Nagar Depot.
This contract package will be funded by Japan International Cooperative Agency (JICA.
The extension line of Phase 1 is 9.051 km long and consist of two underground stations (at Sir Thiyagaraya College and Tondiarpet) and six elevated stations (at New Washermenpet, Tollgate, Kaladipet, Thiruvottriyur Theradi, Thiruvottriyur and Wimco Nagar).
This line was approved in June 2016 by the Central Government with an estimated cost of Rs 3,770 crore.
