Sonia Sethi takes charge as Addl Metropolitan Commissioner of MMRDA

Mumbai (Urban Transport News): Ms. Sonia Sethi – a 1994 batch IAS – today took charge as the Additional Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA, after Mr. Pravin Darade was posted as the Additional Municipal Commissioner, MCGM.

In a send-off ceremony, after his colleague expressly mentioned about his zeal and enthusiasm towards completion of Metro projects, Mr. Darade said, “I was in a hurry to complete Metro projects as 10-12 people die every day on the suburban rail network and a Metro line completing even a day earlier would mean so many lives saved.”

Darade deserved and did receive capacious appreciation from the MMRDA senior officials including Metropolitan Commissioner R. A. Rajeev besides colleagues, staff and the incoming Additional Metropolitan Commissioner Ms.Sonia Sethi.

Ms. Sethi assured that she will ensure the urgency shown by Darade towards completing Metro projects is not lost sight of. Metropolitan Commissioner R. A. Rajeev assured Darade that his style of work will always be remembered by not only MMRDians but also Mumbaikars. Mr. Darade and Ms. Sethi were felicitated by MMRDA, MMRDA Officers’ Association, MMRDA Employees Union and MMRDA Backward Class Employees Association.

Ms. Sethi has a very rich experience in service. She was the Additional Director General, Foreign Trade, Department of Commerce, before joining MMRDA. Previously, she has worked as the Transport Commissioner and Secretary, Maharashtra Jivan Vikas Pradhikaran. Ms.Sethi has also handled significant posts such as Joint MD, CIDCO and MD, MSRDC when the Worli Bandra sea link was commissioner.
