Satish Kumar assumes charge as Member (Traction & Rolling Stock), Railway Board

New Delhi, India (Urban Transport News): In a significant development, Satish Kumar has officially taken over the role of Member (Traction & Rolling Stock) in the Railway Board under the Ministry of Railways, effective from January 5, 2024. Mr. Kumar, belonging to the 1986 batch of the Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers, brings with him a wealth of experience spanning 34 years in the railway sector.

Prior to assuming the responsibilities of Member (Traction & Rolling Stock), Railway Board, Satish Kumar served as the General Manager of North Central Railway, Prayagraj. His extensive career includes diverse roles such as working in Jhansi Division, BLW (Diesel Locomotive Works, Varanasi), NER, Gorkahpur, Patiala Locomotive Works, showcasing his versatility and leadership in various capacities.

Throughout his career, Kumar has been involved in significant projects, leveraging his expertise in Total Quality Management, gained under the UNDP program in 1996. Notably, he served as the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Lucknow Division on Northern Railway from April 2017 to April 2019, during which numerous infrastructural accomplishments were achieved.

Satish Kumar's professional journey also includes his tenure as Senior Deputy General Manager (SDGM) and Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) on North Western Railway, Jaipur, before assuming the role of General Manager at North Central Railway.

Addressing the officers during a meeting, Satish Kumar outlined his priorities, emphasizing the commitment to enhancing passenger facilities, continuous improvement in the passenger travel experience, and augmenting capacity for a significant leap in handling railway traffic. His vision aligns with the broader goal of fostering a more efficient and passenger-centric railway ecosystem.
