New Delhi (Urban Transport News): Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has conducted a pre-launching inspection of Train 18 on Wednesday in New Delhi. He was accompanied by new Chairman Railway Board VK Yadav. Goyal said that his ministry is preparing a future-oriented plan for the development and modernization of Indian railways. For this, there will be a framework of comprehensive expansion and modernization of railway infrastructure along with the development of trains like Train 18.

In a discussion with reporters during the inspection of Train-18, Goyal said that this train has been prepared as an alternative to air travel. This will make it easier to travel from one city to another city. In abroad, the use of trains is more popular than the aircraft for travelling between small distances.

When asked whether this train will start run for the public, Goyal said that the Chief Railway Safety Commissioner has given some suggestions on which the work is going on. This is the first world-class train developed in the country. There are all eyes of the whole world on this. Therefore, it will be run shortly after full preparations. This train is 45 percent faster than Shatabdi and Rajdhani trains. It is able to cover the distance from Delhi to Varanasi in just eight hours. While other trains take 11 hours to complete the journey. In this type of European trains, there are pantographs in every coach, while in Train 18 only two pantographs have been installed, this will save electricity.

The work which was pending for sixty-five years has been completed in four and a half years only. Such as installing 1.5 lakh bio toilet in trains.

According to the Railway Minister, after independence, the demand for railways increased by 1600 percent. But the infrastructure increased by 30 percent only. This deficiency is now being completed. We have decided to install CCTVs at 6000 stations and build both boundary walls in both sides of the 3000 km track in the cities to prevent accidents.
