Kanpur (Urban Transport News): Lucknow sets new history after Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the Lucknow Metro’s commercial run on the 23-km North-South corridor today. The Prime Minister flagged off the commercial run through video conferencing from Kanpur where he has unveiled other development projects for the Uttar Pradesh state.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, deputy chief ministers Dinesh Sharma and Keshav Maurya were present at Chaudhary Charan Airport Metro station in Lucknow along with MLAs and other officials. The Lucknow Metro services would remain suspended on Friday due to the inauguration ceremony. Full-fledged service will begin from tomorrow i.e. Saturday. The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) had got clearance from Commissioner of Railway Safety (CMRS) on February 22.
During his visit to his parliamentary constituency, the Prime Minister visited the Kashi Vishwanath Mandir, laid the foundation stone of Kashi Vishwanath Corridor Project, which aims at ensuring the view of the temple directly from the ghats, and honour beneficiaries of national rural livelihood mission. The 22.87 km long North-South corridor of Lucknow Metro will connect the CCS Airport to Munshipulia with 22 stations. The names of the stations are Chowdhary Charan Singh Airport > Amausi > Transport Nagar > Krishna Nagar > Singar Nagar > Alambagh > Alambagh ISBT > Mawaiya > Durgapuri > Charbagh / Lko Rly Station > Hussaingunj > Sachivalaya > Hazratgunj > KD Singh Babu Stadium > Vishwavidyalaya > IT College Junction > Mahanagar > Badshah Nagar > Lekhraj Market > Ram Sagar Mishra Nagar > Indra Nagar > Munshi Pulia.
