New Delhi/Urban Transport News: Digital Payment Platform PhonePe announced a partnership with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to launch Smart Card Recharge service. After this partnership, PhonePe App users can now recharge their Delhi Metro smart card from the app. Under the initial offer, during the offer period (1 October to 15 October) the PhonePe is giving cashback up to Rs 65. Offer is applicable in Delhi-NCR commuters only. The special point of this partnership is that for promoting the UPI payment for Smart Card Recharge Service, the PhonePe will be an exclusive partner of DMRC.
In a statement, the company said that with the use of a large number of Delhi Metro, this partnership will help in getting the maximum acceptability of the UPI payment mode. A large number of people travel in the Delhi Metro, which will help in promoting the UPI as a payment mode for partnership. Users will no longer need to stand in long queues to recharge their smart cards because users can now directly pay through their bank accounts with the UPI. With a 70 percent market share in the phone, Merchant is the leader in the UPI transaction.
This partnership will prove to be a milestone in promoting digital transaction for DMRC.
