NHSRCL shares latest progress of Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Bullet Train Corridor

New Delhi, India (Urban Transport News): The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), entrusted to implement the high-speed bullet train corridors across the country, has shared the latest progress of works on the under-construction Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Bullet Train Corridor.

According to the NHSRCL, overall 97.54% of the required land for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail project has been acquired so far. In Gujarat, a  total of 98.87% of the land was acquired while 94.55% of the land was acquired in Maharashtra. 100% land acquired in Dadar & Nagar Haveli.

100% contracts for Civil, Bridges & Track works for construction of viaducts, bridges, stations and tracks for the entire alignment i.e. 352 km have been awarded in Gujarat and Dadar & Nagar Haveli. 

In Maharashtra, the Tender for the construction of the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) Station (MAHSR Package C-1) was invited on 21st July 2022 and the Technical bid opening is scheduled on 20th October 2022. Another tender for the construction of a 21-km underground tunnel (including the 7-km undersea tunnel) for the double line between BKC Station and Shilphata has been launched on 23rd September 2022.

Tender for Civil, building works involving Viaduct, Bridges, Tunnel, Maintenance Depot with 3 nos. of
station i.e., Thane, Virar, Boisar & some connecting works for Thane Depot between Shilphata & Zaroli village on Gujarat-Maharashtra border (135 km) will be invited soon.

4 km of the viaduct is completed, which includes 1.5 km of the continuous viaduct near Navsari and 2.5
km erected at different locations. Construction work has started in full swing all along the alignment passing through 8 districts of Gujarat and Dadar & Nagar Haveli.

The works on 8 HSR Stations from Vapi to Sabarmati are under various stages of construction. Pile has been cast over a length of 174.25 km, Foundation over 97.24 km, and Piers have been constructed over a stretch of 87.32 km. A total of 12.92 km girders have been cast and 3.96 km girders have been erected.

Bridge Works on important rivers viz., Narmada, Tapti, Mahi and Sabarmati are in progress.

Land for construction of Underground Bullet Train station at Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) under Package C-1 and land for shifting of BPCL petrol pump already handed over by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

Stage 2 forest clearance for 129.71 Ha of land is already granted by the Ministry of Environment and Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC) for the entire section of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor (MAHSR) in Maharashtra state.

The Maharashtra state government has recently signed a shareholder agreement with NHSRCL for cooperation in implementing the Bullet Train corridor in Maharashtra.
