New Delhi (Urban Transport News): The metro is now becoming a new hope for the people of Outer Delhi, who are facing the problem of public transport. After the areas like Badli, Mundka, the metro will soon reach
Najafgarh. This will benefit millions of people living in the area. The fate of this entire area will be enriched only by a mere 5 km Metro line. For this, the Delhi Metro is building a new metro line to connect Dhansa Border via Najafgarh from Dwarka station.
The Metro work from Dwarka to Najafgarh is almost complete, while the Delhi Metro will take some time from Najafgarh to Dhansa Border. The part was later included in this section of the Metro, so the work here started with a little delay.
Trial run will start soon
The 4.2 km long Dwarka-Najafgarh Metro corridor is not part of the Delhi Metro Phase III, because the contract for its construction was handed over at the end of 2017. This section has completed 90 percent of the work and by the end of next month it is likely to start the trial of Metro. The section was planned to open for passenger service till December, but considering the huge demand and importance of the metro in this area, DMRC is trying to start the passenger service on this section by September-October.
An interchange of 4 stations
There was considerable challenge for the DMRC in the construction of this small metro corridor as the metro has passed through very densely populated areas and DMRC could not get much space for construction. Due to this, there has to be a lot of change in the design of stations in this section. 4 new stations have been created in this whole section. These include Dwarka Interchange Station, Nangali Sakravati, Najafgarh and Dhansa Bus Stand Station. By the end of next year, the Delhi Metro will reach Dhansa border.
Every station's design is unique
DMRC is going to make a unique station on Dhansa Border. This will be the first such underground station of the Metro network, in which the DMRC is going to create an underground parking for the first time. All the places where there are Metro parking, they are all on the Surface. Najafgarh station will also be a very unique station of the metro network, which will be designed in a dumbbell shape. It will be the longest underground station of the metro network, with a total length of 288 meters. Because of this, the platform has to be made too long because the width was low in place. Due to the shortage of space, only two entry-exit gates have been built at Nangli station, whereas a full new elevated station has been built next to the elevated station of Blue line at Dwarka and both stations were connected through a corridor. Its half part will be elevated, while the half part will be underground.
About two lakh people will benefit
DMRC has given the full line the gray line color code. Trains of this section will operate from Najafgarh depot, from where the trains of Blue Line still operate. In this way, Najafgarh will become the first station of the Metro network, from which trains of two different lines will operate simultaneously.
DMRC expects that after the opening of the Dwarka-Najafgarh corridor, about two lakh people will be traveling in this section next year, because this area is not well connected with the public transport system and people have to take the Metro withe help of any other means 5 km away from Dwarka or Dwarka Mor station.
