Mumbai, India (Urban Transport News): Reliance Infrastructure promoted Mumbai Metro One Private Limited, the operator of Mumbai Metro's Line 1 (Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar) has launched a bicycle on rent service at Versova metro station with its focus on enhancing commuter experience. This service is started in collaboration with MyByk for last-mile connectivity.
Earlier in February 2020, the operator had commenced a similar service at Jagruti Nagar metro station and received an overwhelming response from the commuters. More services will be extended to other metro stations in the coming weeks, said Mumbai Metro One.
Currently, the use of bicycles for commute in Mumbai is in a very nascent stage and off late multiple civic agencies are actively looking at promoting this green system of transportation.
Speaking on the occasion, Shubhodoy Mukherjee, CEO at Mumbai Metro One, said:
Since its inception, we have always believed that every commuter is our responsibility and it is our duty to ease their commute in all possible ways. In our constant endeavor to provide world-class services, we are glad to now launch a bicycle on rent services at Versova Metro station too. We urge everyone to avail the services. Happy Journey.

In August–November 2019, Mumbai Metro One actively participated in STAMP (Station Access and Mobility Program) led by World Resources Institute (WRI), India with agencies like MMDRA, Traffic Police, BEST etc. for finding crowd management and last-mile connectivity solutions.
The bicycles will be available on rent at Versova metro station at a reasonable price of just Rs.2 per hour. Metro commuters will be able to hire these GPS-enabled bicycles using MyByk App. The App will self-guide commuters for unlocking the bicycles to avail the service.
