MMRDA renames stations of Line 2A of Mumbai Metro

Mumbai, India (Urban Transport News): The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has decided to change the names of 15 metro stations which are under construction on Line 2A (Dahisar East - DN Nagar) of Mumbai Metro Rail project. As per instruction issued to all stakeholders of the project including Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), J Kumar Infraprojects Limited (Civil Contractor) and AECOM (Detailed Design Consultant), the new names of stations of Line 2A (Yellow Line) are as under:-

1. Dahisar East (no change)
2. Upper Dahisar (formerly Anand Nagar)
3. Kandarpada (formerly Rushi Sankul)
4. Mandapeshwar (formerly IC Colony)
5. Eksar (no change)
6. Borivali West (formerly Don Bosco)
7. Pahadi Eksar (formerly Shimpoli/Shimpawali)
8. Kandivali West (formerly Mahavir Nagar)
9. Dahanukarwadi (formerly Kamraj Nagar)
10. Valnai (formerly Charkop)
11. Malad West (formerly Malad)
12. Lower Malad (formerly Kasturi Park)
13. Pahadi Goregaon (formerly Bangur Nagar)
14. Goregaon West (formerly Goregaon)
15. Oshiwara (formerly Adarsh Nagar)
16. Lower Oshiwara (formerly Shastri Nagar)
17. Andheri West (formerly DN Nagar)

The construction activities of stations and viaducts including metro car depot on Line 2A are in full swing after Govt. of India lifted restrictions of COVID-19 measures. Construction on the first section of the Mumbai Metro Line 2A (Dahisar - DN Nagar), commenced in November 2016 and is expected to be completed at the end of 2020. This section shall be 18.589 km long and comprise 17 of the 39 stations that form part of the Yellow Line. The estimated cost of this project is Rs 6,410 crore.
