New Delhi, India (Urban Transport News): Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 is all set to open for the public soon. The City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Ltd (CIDCO) has taken an important step towards the implementation of Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1.
CIDCO has recently given a Letter of Acceptance (LOA) to Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha Metro) for the Operation and Maintenance services of Line 1 of Navi Mumbai Metro Rail Project. Soon, an agreement will be signed between CIDCO and Maha Metro in this regard, said Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, Vice Chairman and Managing Director of CIDCO.
"After appointing Maha Metro as the Engineer of Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1, CIDCO has given Letter of Acceptance to Maha Metro for the Operation and Maintenance services on this line. Thus, the work on this line will be completed speedily and it will be possible to start the passenger services on this route at the earliest. Giving prime importance to all infrastructural projects is our top priority. This decision is a prominent step towards it,” he added.
On May 6, 2021, CIDCO and Maha Metro team jointly conducted the trial run of the metro train approach road to and the test track of Taloja depot. This was part of CIDCO's promise to commission Line 1 of Navi Mumbai Metro by December this year.
In January, CIDCO had appointed Maha Metro to complete the remaining civil work of Line 1 and now the major responsibilities have been given to Maha Metro. Phase 1 of Navi Mumbai Metro Line 1 will cover a total distance of 11.1 km with 11 stations and will connect Belapur to Pendhar.
