New Delhi, India (Uraban Transport News): On 3 July Delhi’s Lt. Governor Shri Anil Baijal flagged a fleet of 100 E-rickshaws namely SmartE which will run from Dwarka Sec-10 Metro. These E-rickshaws will boost the last mile connectivity service in Dwarka sub-city for Delhi Metro commuters. These E-rickshaws will be run from 8 Metro stations of Dwarka sub-city which are Dwarka, Dwarka Sec-14, Sec-13, Sec-12, Sec-11, Sec-10, Sec-9 and Sec-8 from 6 AM to 11 PM.
This is for the first time that the e-rickshaw facility has been rolled out for Metro stations in Delhi region covering Dwarka sub-city. Initially, 100 SmartE e-rickshaws are being introduced into service which will gradually be increased to 200 in coming weeks. A Charging Station for 100 electric vehicles has also been set up by SmartE to ensure seamless service through the day. The Smart E-rickshaws also enables the GPS services which specially designed to cover cabin and full front windscreen to provide the last mile connectivity within an area of 3-4 KM around Metro stations.
The fares have been kept very nominal at a base price of? 10 for the first 2 KM and? 5/- for every subsequent KM. The commuters can also book vehicles through the SmartE app and pay digitally for their rides. On successful implementation of the E-Rickshaw services in Delhi now, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) will also spread similar format in other areas of Delhi/NCR. Delhi Metro is also working with SmartE to enable usage of Metro Smart Cards for fare payment in these electric vehicles. On this occasion, Hon’ble LG said “DMRC has not only contributed excellence in transportation, but it also stands out for its environment friendly initiatives.
This initiatives is very eco-friendly initiative for our environment at the Metro stations will enable the commuters to prefer non-polluting public transport modes over personal vehicles. DMRC has partnered with M/s Treasure Vase Ventures Pvt. Ltd. to operate the e-rickshaw services, under their brand name SmartE, at all the above stations as well as Dwarka sub-city.
