New Delhi, India (Urban Transport News): The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) on 18th December 2020 opened financial bids of the bridge contract package (P4 - X&Y) of the Mumbai - Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (Bullet Train) project in New Delhi. According to the bid results, Larsen & Toubro Ltd - led joint venture emerged as the lowest bidder among the other seven major infra contractors.
Tender for contract package P4 was invited in two lots (X & Y) in February 2020 by the NHSRCL. Technical bids were opened on 25th September 2020.
The scope of work under the contract package P4 (Lot X) includes Procurement, Fabrication, Check-Assembly and Painting at the workshop and Transportation to various Bridge Sites of Steel Truss Superstructure along with bearings for 14 Nos. (GADs 66, 69, 2, 58, 8, 1134, C5-2, C5-3, 25, 28, 1967, 32, 42 and Laundry) of Bridges for High Speed Rail Corridor for crossing over Roads / Rivers / Railways / other structures for the Project for Construction of Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor.
And the scope of work under the contract package P4 (Lot Y) includes Procurement, Fabrication, Check-Assembly and Painting at the workshop and Transportation to various Bridge Sites of Steel Truss Superstructure along with bearings for 19 Nos. (GADs 65, 1, 57, 67, 3, 6, 68, 12, 61, 14, 15, 62, C5-1, 27, 31, 37, 2357-3, 54 & 55 and Diesel Shed) of Bridges for High Speed Rail Corridor for crossing over Roads / Rivers / Railways / other structures for the Project for Construction of Mumbai -Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor.
A total of eight bidders have submitted their bids against this contract package. The financial position of each bidder is as under:-
Other four bidders viz. Bridge & Roof Co. (India) Ltd., JMC Projects(India) Ltd. - Rahee Infratech Ltd. JV, Braithwaite & Co. Ltd. Consortium and ISGEC Heavy Engineering Ltd. – M & B Engineering Ltd. Consortium were disqualified according to the terms of the tender notice.
Now the bids sent for evaluation by the tender committee. After completion of the evaluation of bids, the letter of acceptance will be issued in favour of the lowest bidder.
"It is estimated that about 70,000 MT of Steel will be used for the fabrication of these steel bridges and Indian Steel industries and their allied supply chains will get a big boost. NHSRCL has already sensitized the steel industries to cater to such a huge demand for India’s first High-Speed Rail corridor," said an official release.
According to the NHSRCL, the Mumbai - Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor would have a total of 6 bridge-work related packages viz. P1A, P1B, P1C, P2, P3, and P4. Of which, Packages P1A, P1B and P1C involve the construction over minor roads, rivers and railways, while P2 and P3 are dedicated for bridges over NH-48 in Navasari District.
Earlier, L&T has bagged two major civil contract packages (C4 & C6) of Mumbai - Ahmedabad High Speed Rail Corridor from NHSRCL.
