KSMB bags Rs 839 million contract for depot E&M works of Kanpur Metro

Lucknow (Urban Transport News): The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (formerly known as Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation) issued a letter of acceptance (LoA) worth Rs 838.9 million to Lucknow based infrastructure firm, KSM Bashir Mohammad & Sons (KSMB) on November 19, 2019, to carry out the civil and depot E&M works of Kanpur Metro Rail project.

The scope of work includes civil, pre-engineered building (PEB) and electrical and mechanical (E&M) works for construction of depot-cum-workshop, including structural, architectural, plumbing, drainage, external development, road works, electrical, mechanical, ventilation air conditioning (VAC) system, fire fighting, fire detection etc. at Government Polytechnic depot for Corridor 1 of the Kanpur Metro Rail Project (Phase I). The KSM Bashir Mohammad & Sons (KSMB) emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) among other participant bidders.

In September 2019, the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) has floated the tender with an estimated value of Rs 105 crores. The firm has to complete the work in 18 months at Government Polytechnic depot. On November 15, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has laid the foundation stone of priority corridor of Kanpur Metro Rail project from IIT Kanpur. The Afcons Infrastructure Limited has been awarded the civil contract worth Rs 735 crore for construction of 9 metro stations of Rs 11,076 crore Kanpur Metro rail project. Corridor-1 from IIT Kanpur to Moti Jheel has been selected as the priority section under the Kanpur Metro Rail project and the total length of this section is about 9 km.
