KEC bags another contract worth Rs 1,080 crore of Delhi Metro Phase IV project

New Delhi (Urban Transport News): The major Indian infrastructure firm, KEC International Limited emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for the second civil construction package of the Delhi Metro Phase IV project. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) has opened the price bids of the contract package DC-02 of Delhi MRTS Phase IV today. Total of six contractors viz. KEC International Limited, Larsen and Toubro Limited (L&T Construction), Dilip Buildcon Limited, Afcons Infrastructure Limited, PNC-Simplex JV and Tata Projects Limited were participated in the contract package DC-02 of Phase IV of Delhi Metro Rail Project whereas Dilip Buildcon Limited, L&T Construction, Tata Projects Limited, and Afcons Infrastructure Limited emerged as L2, L3, L4, and L5 respectively.

However, PNC-Simplex JV found technically disqualified. The total value of the contract is Rs 1,080 crores as quoted by KEC International Limited against the estimated value of contract Rs. 1,030 crores. This is the second high-value civil contract that has been secured by the KEC International Limited from Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC). The KEC had secured first contract order worth Rs 955 crores of contract package DC-01 of Phase IV of Delhi Metro Rail Project.

Scope of Work

Part Design and Construction of Elevated Viaduct from Maujpur (excluding) to Majlis Park (excluding) including Bridge across river Yamuna Integrated Elevated Viaduct with PWD flyover at lower deck & metro line at the upper deck from Yamuna Vihar to Bhajanpura and 08 Elevated Stations viz. Yamuna Vihar, Bhajanpura, Khajuri Khas, Sonia Vihar, Soorghat, Jagatpur Village, Jharoda and Burari station (including Entry & Exit structures at stations but excluding Architectural finishing, Pre-engineered steel roof structure and roof sheeting of stations) from Chainage 0.000 M to 12098.520 M of Majlis Park-Maujpur Corridor of Delhi MRTS Phase-IV Project. The tender was floated in the second week of August this year and the estimated value of work was Rs.1,030 crores. The technical bid was opened on September 24, 2019.

Previous Contracts

Earlier, KEC International Limited secured two civil contracts worth Rs.845 crores from the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (for Rs.580 crores) and Kochi Metro Rail Limited (Rs.265 crores). KEC International Limited is involved in various verticals of infrastructure development viz. Power Transmission and Distribution, Railways, Solar, Civil, Smart Infrastructure and Cables. The company is currently executing various infrastructure projects in over 30 countries and has a presence in over 100 countries.
