ITD Cementation wins ₹3762 crore civil contract packages for Chennai Metro Phase 2

Chennai, India (Urban Transport News): The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) opened financial bids for underground contract packages UG-01 and UG-02 of Corridor 4 (Power House Ramp – Light House) of Chennai Metro Rail Project Phase 2 on November 25, 2021.

As per the result announced, ITD Cementation India Ltd. emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) in both contract packages. The Package-wise financial positions of each bidder are as under:-

Package UG-01

Scope of Work: Construction of underground stations at Light House, Kutchery Road, Alwarpet, Bharathidasan Road including underground stabling yard and cross over at Light House Station and associated twin tunnel, project start from chainage 0+001m to end chainage 5+150m (down line) of Corridor 4 of Chennai Metro Rail Project Phase 2.

Total Tunnel Length: 5.15 km

• ITD Cementation India Ltd.: Rs 1,905.91 crores (L1)
• GÜLERMAK Ağır Sanayi İnşaat ve Taahhüt A.Ş.: Rs 2,006.26 crores (L2)
• J Kumar Infraprojects – Patel Infra JV: Rs 2,089.33 crores (L3)
• Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T): Rs 2,178.00 crores (L4)
• Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co. (STEC): Rs 2,898.84 crores (L5)

Package UG-02

Scope of Work: Construction of underground stations at Boat Club, Nandanam, Panagal Park, Kodambakkam, Kodambakkam Flyover including underground crossover at Panagal Park Station and associated twin tunnel, cut & cover box, U section and ramp project start from chainage 5+150m to end chainage 10+0.27m (down line) of Corridor 4 of Chennai Metro Rail Project Phase 2.

Total Tunnel Length: 4.877 km

• Doğuş Construction and Trade Inc.: Rs 2,281.10 crores (L3)
• Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T): Rs 2,376.00.00 crores (L4)
• Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co. (STEC): Rs 2,424.98 crores (L5)

Tenders for the above contract packages were issused in February 2021. Technical bids were opened in August. Now bids have been sent for evaluation. These contract packages will be financed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
