Indian Railways Construction Manual 2023 launched to accelerate Infrastructure Development

New Delhi, India (Urban Transport News): In a significant move towards enhancing the efficiency of Indian Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister of Railways, Communications, and Electronic & Information Technology, launched 'The Indian Railways Construction Manual 2023' in New Delhi today. The unveiling ceremony was marked by the Minister's address, emphasizing the pivotal role the manual will play in streamlining various construction-related activities.

Empowering Construction Activities

Addressing the gathering, Minister Vaishnaw highlighted the comprehensive scope of the construction manual, stating that it will be instrumental in guiding activities such as land acquisition, forest clearance, bridge design, contract management, tunnel construction, and the development of road flyovers and under-bridges. The manual's versatility aims to contribute to the goal of making Indian Railways the world's fastest-growing rail network.

Modernization and Reforms

Expressing pleasure at the contemporary transformation of the manual, Minister Vaishnaw credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's dedicated focus on railway development. He emphasized that the updated manual, replacing its previous version from around 1960, incorporates new reforms, including provisions for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contracts, standardized bridge construction, and the execution of signaling, electrical, and non-interlocking works.

Minister Vaishnaw commended the efforts of Roop Narayan Sunkar, former Member (Infrastructure), Railway Board, and the entire team involved in preparing the manual.
