New Delhi, India (Urban Transport News): In a transformative move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 112 National Highway projects across India, collectively valued at approximately Rs. One lakh crore. The momentous event took place in Gurugram, Haryana, marking a significant leap in the nation's infrastructure development. The Prime Minister, known for his commitment to progress, emphasized the government's focus on turning challenges into opportunities and delivering tangible results for the citizens.
Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the shift from traditional program locations in Delhi to hosting major events in different parts of the country. The inauguration included the unveiling of the Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway, covering a substantial 19 km stretch. Expressing enthusiasm about this development, PM Modi stated that it would revolutionize travel between Delhi and Haryana, transforming lives and the region's dynamics.
Prime Minister Modi underscored the remarkable pace of project implementation, revealing that in less than three months of 2024, projects exceeding Rs 10 lakh crore have either been dedicated to the nation or had their foundation stones laid. The projects encompass a wide geographical span, covering Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Bengal, Bihar, Maharashtra, Punjab, and Rajasthan. Notable among them are the expansion of the Amritsar Bhatinda Jamnagar Corridor and the development of the Bengaluru Ring Road.
Drawing attention to the Dwarka Expressway, the Prime Minister emphasized its strategic importance, connecting seamlessly to the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. He elaborated on how such infrastructure projects enhance connectivity, fostering economic activities and integrating the National Capital Region (NCR).
Prime Minister Modi praised the efforts of the Haryana government, particularly Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, in ensuring timely project completion. He acknowledged their dedication to modernizing state infrastructure, crucial for the development of both Haryana and the entire nation.
Reiterating the government's holistic vision for Delhi-NCR's infrastructure development, the Prime Minister highlighted the completion of major projects such as the Dwarka Expressway, Peripheral Expressways, and the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. These initiatives, coupled with metro line expansions and international airport constructions, aim to alleviate traffic congestion and reduce pollution in the region.
Prime Minister Modi emphasized the link between infrastructure development and poverty alleviation, citing how improved roads and digital connectivity in rural areas create new opportunities. He noted the emergence of possibilities in rural India, driven by digital infrastructure and access to essential services like healthcare and education.
Closing his address, Prime Minister Modi affirmed the government's commitment to accelerating infrastructure development across India. He highlighted the completion of long-pending projects, exemplified by the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and the Dwarka Expressway.
