Warangal, India (Urban Transport News): To review the detailed project report (DPR) of the proposed 17-km Metro Neo project, Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) has conducted a meeting with the concerned department including the consultants on Thursday. "The Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation is taking all steps to expedite the process of constructing the Metro Neo Rail project in Warangal city," said Pamela Satpathy, GWMC Commissioner.
The meeting was chaired by Pamela Satpathy where she discussed the Detailed Project Report (DPR) at length via video-conferencing with the Technical Committee of Urban Mass Transit Company (UMTC) and Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha Metro) for setting up the Metro Neo System in Warrangal city.
In the meeting, Technical experts have made several suggestions on the Comprehensive Mobility Plan (CMP). They also collected inputs from the respective departmental officials and discussed the formation.
Pamela said that several rounds of talks had been held with all stakeholders so far and officials from Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), Police, Transport, NPDCL, and R&B Department had cleared the local issues from Kazipet to Warangal for setting up a Metro Neo line.
She further said that a final detailed project report (DPR) of the proposed Metro Neo project would be sent to the state government for approval after making changes in it by considering any issues from the officials from TSRTC, Police, Transport, NPDCL and R&B Department. According to the DPR submitted by Maha - Metro, the cost of the project is estimated at Rs 1,100 crore.
The Telangana government had decided to take up the Metro Neo Rail project in Warangal and appointed Maha Metro to conduct a feasibility study to prepare a detailed project report. According to the plan, a 17-km long rail project connecting Kazipet railway station to Warangal railway station via Petrol Pump, Hanamkonda Chowrasta, Mulugu Road, MGM Centre, Pochamma Maidan, Kashibugga and Venkatrama Junction will be constructed on the elevated corridor.
