Gr. Noida Authority plans to link Aqua line metro with Magenta Line

Greater Noida (Urban Transport News): It is good news for the residents of Greater Noida area that the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) is planning to propose linking of two new Metro links to connect Greater Noida with the Delhi. This plan is intended to ensure a smooth ride for commuters and to enhance connectivity with the metro rail system. Under this plan, the authority is preparing a proposal to extend the Delhi Metro's Blue Line from Noida City Centre into a loop, covering various parts of Noida and Greater Noida. 

The loop line is proposed to be linked with Magenta Line by a 16.5-km stretch connecting Sector-143 and Kalindi Kunj and Okhla Bird Sanctuary stations. If these plans become successful than the commuters will be able to connect through Magenta line to Kalindi Kunj and Blue line to Mayur Vihar area.

The authority is preparing another proposal to build a rapid Metro corridor via Badarpur, Faridabad. This 66-km high-speed rapid metro link will run parallel to the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) at Bodaki and connect to Badarpur station, Delhi and Gurugram at IGI international airport. Meanwhile, Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) is studying the feasibility of a Metro connecting with Sector 71 station of Noida Metro’s Aqua Line, which will serve as an interchange station with Gaur City Square in Sector 2 of Greater Noida (West). After this, the line will be extended to Knowledge Park-V in Greater Noida. According to the propsed plan, this loop will consist of a 15-km metro line, which will be extended to Bodaki village in Greater Noida. Finally, Bodaki will be connected with Noida City Centre via metro stations at Pari Chowk and Noida sectors-147, 143, 85, 101 and 50, among others.

Sources said that this Metro corridor, which was proposed in 2015 and was expected to become operational by 2021 had been stalled in 2017 because the metro route was not economically viable, due to low population residing in the area. Now Greater Noida west becoming a hub of multi-storied housing complexes, therefore, the authority has decided to review the project. It has been expected that all proposals are likely to be taken to an upcoming board meeting of Greater Noida Authority scheduled on May 31 before being forwarded to the state government for further action including preparing of detailed project reports (DPR) and funding pattern.
