DMRC bags Rs.4570.34 crores contract of Navi Mumbai Metro Line 2 & 3

Navi Mumbai (Urban Transport News): The Board of Directors of City & Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Limited (CIDCO) on Tuesday accorded principle approval to appoint Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) to undertake the work of Line 2 & 3 of Navi Mumbai Metro project.

In this regard, CIDCO has written a letter to the Managing Director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Limited (DMRC) with request to prepare the terms & conditions and send the draft Memorandum of Understanding (Contract Agreement) at the earliest in order to finalize the same.

The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for Metro Line II & III has been submitted by RITES Ltd. The Board has accorded approval to implement NMM Line III (Pendhar to MIDC) for Rs 1750.14 crore and NMM Line II (MIDC to Khandeshwar) for Rs 2820.20 crore. After obtaining the necessary approval for NMM Line 4, the necessary plan will be put into action”, said in the press statement.

To execute the project, CIDCO is also seeking financial assistance from the State Government as well as the Central Government as the first phase of Navi Mumbai Metro Project from Belapur to Pendhar (Line 1) is underway with an elevated length of 11.10 km comprising of 11 stations, one depot, and entailing an estimated cost of Rs. 3063.63 crores.

The Navi Mumbai Metro has already received the six coaches of metro train from China for operating metro services on Line 1 and the coaches are stabled at Taloja Car Shed. The empty trial run of the metro train is planned by end of November 2019 and commencement of commercial operations is expected by June 2020.
