Delhi Metro expands QR Code-based Ticketing facility through PayTM on all lines

New Delhi, India (Urban Transport News): The Delhi Metro is unwavering in its commitment to enhancing the ease of ticket booking for passengers throughout its extensive network. In a recent initiative, the Delhi Metro proudly introduces a user-friendly option for commuters by launching a QR code-based ticketing facility through the Paytm Mobile App. This innovative feature was inaugurated by  Vikas Kumar, the Managing Director of DMRC, in the presence of Abhay Sharma, the Chief Business Officer at Paytm, at the Metro Bhawan on 12th October 2023.

A Convenient Solution for Commuters

With this new feature, commuters can easily obtain a mobile QR ticket on the Paytm app within the 'Metro' section. Passengers simply need to enter their entry and destination stations on the day of the journey. Then, at both entry and exit stations, passengers can hold their smartphone in front of the QR code scanner of the Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) gates to proceed with their journey. Previously, this facility was available only on the Airport Express Line.

A Step Towards Digital India

Dr. Vikas Kumar, MD/DMRC, expressed, "The introduction of QR-based ticketing for all Delhi Metro corridors through Paytm will facilitate efficient and hassle-free travel for lakhs of metro commuters in the National Capital. We have taken a host of measures to facilitate digital ticketing, showing our commitment to the 'Digital India' initiative, aimed at providing government services electronically with improved online infrastructure and inclusivity."

Abhay Sharma, Chief Business Officer, Paytm, stated, "As the pioneer of QR code-based payments, we aim to offer convenience and ease of digital ticketing to metro commuters, helping them save time. Using this facility, Delhi Metro Rail passengers will be able to skip the queues to buy tickets. We continue to strive to bring innovative smart mobility and payment solutions for Indians."

Simplifying Ticket Procurement

DMRC is continuously diversifying its ticket procurement channels through various digital modes, including UPI, Credit/Debit cards, net banking, and more. The DMRC is committed to simplifying and modernizing the ticket booking process, ensuring passengers have a convenient and hassle-free experience. In recent times, DMRC has rolled out multiple initiatives, including QR ticketing via the Mobile App, Ticket Vending Machines, Ticket Windows, WhatsApp, and more, all of which accept popular digital payment methods.

DMRC encourages its valued customers to use these easy-to-manage digital means of booking tickets from the comfort of their homes or workplaces. These options are not only easier, faster, and convenient but also eliminate the need to visit ticket counters or stand in queues.
