New Delhi (Urban Transport News): Before the new year, Delhi-NCR people will get three new Metro lines as a new year gift. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is preparing to open three more new sub-sections before January 2019. Out of these two sections are in NCR which will improve the connectivity of the metro between Delhi-NCR.
After the opening of these sections, only 10 km of Delhi Metro Phase-3 will be left which will be opened after January. Traveling in Delhi-NCR will now become easy The Metro spokesperson said that the metro train trials are underway in the three sections of the Delhi Metro. One of these sections is on the Pink Line from Lajpat Nagar to Mayur Vihar Pocket-1, while the second section is on the extension of the Redline of Delhi Metro, under which the Red Line will be extended from Dilshad Garden to Ghaziabad's New Bus Stand.
Apart from this, the third section is also in NCR, under which the Violet line of Metro is extended from Faridabad's Escorts Mujesar to Ballabgarh. The trials on these three sections have almost going to complete soon. Safety inspection by Commissioner for Metro Railway Safety (CMRS) is completed on Faridabad-Ballabhgarh section on this Friday, while DMRC will soon write a letter to CMRS for inspection of the other two sections. These two sections also have the opening target by the end of December.
This will increase the area of the Delhi Metro in NCR. On one side, people from Ghaziabad will be able to come directly to Rithala, while the Kashmiri gate bus stand will connect directly to Ballabgarh. The Commissioner for Metro Rail Safety, SK Pathak has accorded the mandatory approval for the commencement of passenger operations on the 3.2 km long Escorts Mujesar – Raja Nahar Singh (Ballabhgarh) section of the Kashmere Gate – Escorts Mujesar corridor (Violet Line) of Delhi Metro. This extension of Delhi Metro's Violet Line will be formally flagged off via remote by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 19th November 2018. Passenger services on this section will commence at 5 pm on the same day.

Metro will reach Najafgarh next year According to the Delhi Metro spokesperson, under the Delhi Metro Phase-3, 160 km of new metro lines were to be constructed, out of which 124 km network was already opened and now the 36-km portion of Phase-3 is left to open. Although the actual deadline of Phase-3 was December 2017, deadlines were missed due to delays in land acquisition or some other technical reasons. After December, only 10 km of the Phase-3 will be left to open.
The most important section in this is Najafgarh line, which is expected to open till the mid of next year. Apart from this, due to the delay in getting the land near Trilokpuri, some portions of the Pink Line has been discontinued, it will also be ready in next year. Apart from this, a new section will be ready from Noida city center to the electronic city. In addition to the sections of Phase-3, DMRC is extending the Airport express line from Dwarka Sector-21 to the new Convention Center in Sector-25, Dwarka.
