New Delhi (Urban Transport News): India's first private premium train New Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express hits the tracks from today. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath along with Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal flagged off the train today from Lucknow Railway Station. The train will start commercial service between New Delhi and Lucknow from October 5, 2019. Here is all about you need to know about the Country's first premium private train.
The Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express will cover the distance between Lucknow and Delhi in 6 hours and 15 minutes. The train will have halts at two railway stations namely - Kanpur and Ghaziabad.

On its return journey, the train will depart from New Delhi at 4.30 pm and will reach Lucknow at 10.45 pm.
However, the fares may vary along all sections since this train will also operate on the Flexi-fare scheme.

The Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express will be the first private premium train of Indian Railways that will be fully run by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a subsidiary company of Indian Railways. With the aims to provide world-class passenger service, the Railway Ministry has made a proposal to run its premium trains through private train operators under its 100-day agenda.
Passengers travelling in AC chair cars and Executive cars of Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express will also have the option of choose combo meals onboard. Catering charges Rs.185/- for AC chair car and Rs.245/- for Executive car is included in the ticket prices for the full length of the journey between New Delhi and Lucknow. However, the upper ceiling limit of catering charges will be Rs. 340/- and Rs. 385 respectively.
Passengers who will travel in both category of cars (AC Chair Car and Executive Car) will get some refreshment and breakfast right after boarding on the train. They will have some options to choose the menu of the refreshment and breakfast.
Just before the end of the journey, passengers will be served light refreshments like small Masala Samosa/Branded Cookies with Tea/Coffee premix; additional Muffin/Slice of Cake for Executive Class. In all these combo options, additional cornflakes, sugar sachet, and milk will be provided to executive car passengers.
Both categories of Passengers can also order additional eatable items such as branded Mishti Dahi, Mango Dahi, Brown Bread, Tomato Ketchup, Butter, Branded Fruit Juice, Tea/Coffee Kit, Salt and Pepper, Mouth Freshener.
