CMRL issues tender for supply of 78 Metro cars for Chennai Metro Phase 2

Chennai, India (Urban Transport News): Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) on 8th December 2021, has re-issued a tender notice from the Rolling Stock manufactures to supply 78 cars & electrification work for Chennai Metro Rail Project Phase 2.

Scope of Works

Design, Manufacture, Supply Testing, Commissioning of Standard Gauge Metro Rolling Stock (Electrical Multiple Units) 78 car & training of Personnel for Chennai Metro Phase2.

Earlier, this tender notice was issued in December 2020 where three firms namely BEML, Alstom and Titagarh Wagons were shown interests to supply the Rolling Stock coaches.

About Project

Chennai Metro Project is a Mass Rapit Transit System to be operated in Chennai City in Tamil Nadu, India. Chennai Metro Project Phase 2 will cover total nework length of 118.9 km which connects 50 Stations in Line-3 from Madhavaram Milk Colony to Sipcot; 31 stations in Line-4 from Lighhouse to Poonamallee Bus Depot and 46 Stations in Line-5 from Madhavaram to Sholinganallur.
